Puesto

Produced while at ripe, the Puesto website is designed to deliver a concise and consistently branded user experience.

Responsively designed, the site looks its best regardless of device or browser size. Users are able to browse the site just as easily on their phone and tablet as on their computer.

To accomodate Puesto’s ever-changing menu, content is loaded dynamically from Locu before Puesto styles are applied, providing users with a consistent visual experience and Puesto with efficient administrative controls.

&pizza

View the live site

The &pizza website was designed with on-the-go users in mind as the majority of customers access the site from a mobile device. This website was also produced during my tenure at ripe.

The most important information a restaurant website can provide is a menu, pricing, an address and hours of operation. The &pizza website gives users instant access to each, streamlining the conversion of interested user to paying customer.

In addition to a responsive design that works well on phones, tablets and desktops, the &pizza website uses geolocation data to help hungry users find directions to their nearest &pizza location with the click of a button.

Elementa

For academic journals, readability is king. The clean design of Elementa: Science of the Anthropocene ensures groundbreaking science communicates clearly.

Produced while at ripe, the Elementa site presents content in a format that aids scanning and reading comprehension. Every piece of the design exists to help the user process information on the page – there are no extraneous bells and whistles.

The Elementa site is a hybrid, built on WordPress and the open source content management system Ambra, developed by the Public Library of Science. This allows both users and administrators to interact with content in the most efficient manner possible.

Interactive Design & Front-End Development

Hello! My name is Ian Hamilton and I build things on the Internet. I previously worked as a senior designer at ripe where I designed, built and maintained extremely usable and beautiful online presences for dozens of local, national and international clients.

I create simple, clean, precisely designed websites and mobile experiences that communicate clearly with target audiences. I code things the right way, testing to ensure your product looks just as good on a phone or tablet as it does on a desktop computer.

When I developed my first website back in 2001 I fell in love with pixels and code. Classically trained in the arts, I pair my technical know-how with a visually pleasing aesthetic that will help you, your organization or your project put its best foot forward.
